It is true to say that fashion and architecture are cut from the same cloth.

Each employs geometry to create sinuous lines, curves and defining shapes using similar elements, like materials, finishes, and artisanal detail. Whether it’s the perfect pantsuit, custom benchtop, handbag or wall treatment, each is an art form serving to express individual style in tangible form.

Fashion gives us wearable art, while architecture allows us to live within it. Merging the two isn’t new, yet the enthusiasm surrounding them is - never before have we seen fashion and architecture’s lines blurred more brilliantly.

On location at Roscommon House in Floreat, we teamed up with Western Australia’s oldest multi-brand boutique Adam Heath for a fresh take on this irresistible pairing.

The family home, designed by architect Neil Cownie, artfully reflects the unique attributes of its ‘Garden Suburb’ location and modernist architecture. Exuding equal parts glamour and grit, its spatial arrangement of courtyards boasts seamless interaction between indoor and outdoor living. The materials used inside, chosen for their roughness, texture, modesty, and patina, reflect Wabi-sabi, the  ancient Japanese philosophy that looks for beauty in imperfection.

Adam Heath's collection of coveted international designers, including Isabel Marant, Ulla Johnson, Altuzarra, and La DoubleJ, are the architects of our fashion personalities. Handpicking the very best from the international runways, Adam Heath’s buyers are always on the lookout for the next big fashion names whilst representing the crème-de-la creme of established designers. This season, a melee of puff sleeves, prairie florals, bold prints and Parisian-inspired evening pieces reinstate our wardrobes with wearability, individuality and flair.

The alluring combination of high-end fashion and a beautifully designed house proves our approach to dressing and home invites the same creativity and joy.

Head to Adam Heath now to shop the story and subscribe to Havenist for our upcoming feature on Roscommon House and interview with its architect Neil Cownie.
